Our Work

Angelitos Sanctuario rescues dogs, donkeys and other animals in the Central Mexico highlands. We operate on a sanctuary model which means we adopt out strong candidates and provide permanent homes for the unadoptable and severely handicapped.

We have a number of blind and paralyzed dogs who call Angelitos home.

Why Dogs?

We know these images are hard to see. Unfortunately, because we live here, we cannot escape them. Therefore, we must act.

Dogs in Mexico face enormous challenges. Thousands live on the streets, often starving, intentionally poisoned, and tortured. Many are ill and die of diseases.

Thousands more are kept in captivity and are seriously abused--tied up on rooftops or chained outside, often without shade, housing, food or water.

Many people do not want to sterilize their animals, especially males, creating an epic population with nowhere to go.

This is why we have sacrificed everything to create a unique animal sanctuary in a country not known for animal welfare.
